Photographing events requires shooting a lot of groups. The challenge there is to capture or engineer a cohesiveness that shows a connectedness. You want people to look at the picture years later and say, I looked happy, I looked good, that was a fun experience to be together. There’s a lot of math involved. The number of people, the number of rows of people, the vantage point, the aperture and shutter speed, the exposures left on your memory card. And then when there are no groups, I wander around, taking in the glitter of the decorations, reflections of candles in wine glasses, and faces, and I focus, inhale, and push the button. Here are a few from a ballet fundraiser.

Wonderful benefit for the Maryland Youth Ballet. Fun night, dancers modeled their hand made tutus on the runway, and guests enjoyed themselves eating, drinking, and posing for pictures at a photo booth. The dancers were all elegant and fun to photograph.
