Thirteen year olds preparing for their Bar Mitzvahs are chameleons.  Serious and studious in their freshly pressed suits in the synagogue, playful and hamming it up once they change into their everyday clothes…you’ll see what I mean when you take a look at Sam in these three photos…

I don't know what it is about Bar/Bat Mitzvahs that I love so much…but I'm thinking it is the sweet shift toward maturity I see in these kids as they stand at the pulpit reading from the Torah.  The sense of accomplishment is fun and exciting to document.
