I don’t know why this photograph makes me smile — maybe it is about the environmental fantasy that we live in a world where art is suspended in the sky purifying the air.  I found an abandoned medicine cabinet in my alley the other day and I have been photographing jewelry on the mirrored glass . Every shot is different, the sun moving through trees and clouds, shifting angles to balance highlights bouncing off the copper and stone.  This beautiful necklace is a piece I bought from my lovely lovely talented friend Carmen Eliam.  Her website is www.carmeneliamjewelry.com

You can enjoy a browse through Carmen’s collections of necklaces, rings, and bracelets I have photographed at https://judylichtphotography.pixieset.com/carmeneliamjewelry/

LGBTQ Interns Take to the Hill

The Victory Institute is an organization promoting political leadership in the LGBQT community.  Photographing this year’s Congressional interns in Russell Senate Building, surrounded by marble columns was refreshing during our national political upheaval.  These kids represent the future and each member of this group talked to me in a way that made me believe in government again.  Check out the organization at https://victoryinstitute.org/about/ and to see more photographs, please visit https://judylichtphotography.pixieset.com/mariocapitolhill18/CA8A1389-EditCA8A1282-Edit-EditCA8A1564-EditCA8A1512-EditCA8A1309-EditCA8A1419-EditCA8A1489-EditCA8A1444-EditCA8A1244-EditCA8A1683-EditCA8A1701-EditCA8A1656-EditCA8A1800-EditJudylicht@comcast.net

The woods and the ocean are my peaceful places, and less than a few miles from my house, lies Rock Creek Park, where one day I met Melanie Choukas-Bradley, and now I enjoy my walks even more.  Melanie asked me to make a movie for her to show in London.  She is an award winning writer, teacher, and guide, who focuses on how people and nature “interconnect.”   Brad Tehaan, of Whispering Pixels, was our editor and the video was shot on a frigid day this week that Melanie warmed up with her smile, her thoughtfulness, and her love of the woods and wilds.

Melanie’s is the author of  A Year in Rock Creek Park—the Wild, Wooded Heart of Washington, DC, the winner of a 2015 IPPY award and City of Trees, which has been in print for over 30 years.   Her website is www.melaniechoukas-bradley.com

The curtain is open on the joyous lives of the children who thrive in the loving, nurturing environment at Temple Sinai Nursery School.  Photos of the 150 children, the teachers, staff, and families are online at http://judylichtphotography.pixieset.com/templesinainurseryschoolchildrenandstaff2015/  and http://judylichtphotography.pixieset.com/templesinainurseryschool2015/

Great shoot this weekend — the first shot was in a neighbor’s garage. I photographed a group of men men involved in a non-profit organization called 3 Sisters whose mission is to raise awareness for families impacted by breast cancer.  The group focuses on providing support groups for men that are casual and offer a relaxed way for men to get together, find solace, and develop friendships with other men and their families dealing with similar issues.  Check out their website — http://www.F3S.org

Here are a few more shots…

September and October are great months for portraits.  Cooler, softer light, well-exercised bodies…great time to update your Linkedin and Facebook portraits…and nice for families to get ahead of the holidays and schedule a photo that benefits from the warmer weather.   Contact me at judylicht@comcast.net to discuss scheduling an appointment.
